VFF Chairman takes special action with a series of Vietnamese diaspora prodigies

VFF leadership meets and encourages the U19 Vietnam team, specifically asking about the Vietnamese diaspora players.

On March 23 afternoon, at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, VFF Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan and Vice Chairman Tran Anh Tu had a meeting to encourage the U19 Vietnam team, which is currently undergoing its first training session in 2026 to review and build strength towards the 2026 U19 Southeast Asian Championship and the 2027 U20 Asian qualifiers.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized the particularly important role of youth teams in Vietnam's football development strategy. Accordingly, the U19 team is the direct successor to the U23 and national teams, serving as a foundation in preparation for major tournaments like the SEA Games or continental qualifiers. VFF will organize multiple training sessions throughout the year to maximize conditions for selection, evaluation, and team improvement.

VFF Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan also praised the outstanding achievements of Vietnam's youth teams in recent times, while affirming the increasingly elevated position of Vietnamese football in the region and continent. The impressive results of the U23 Vietnam team and the national team are not only a source of motivation but also proof of the effectiveness of youth training, thereby setting higher requirements for the next generation.

Additionally, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan extended greetings to the players, especially the new faces and Vietnamese diaspora players, and emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and responsibility when wearing the national team jersey. Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan hopes the players will quickly integrate, support each other, and maximize their abilities to aim for high achievements in 2026.

Regarding specific directions for upcoming tasks, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan requested the team to fully focus on the 2026 U19 Southeast Asian Championship, striving to qualify for the finals and aim for the highest goal. Simultaneously, the team needs thorough preparation for the 2027 U20 Asian qualifiers – a significant arena in the development journey of young players.

Responding to the guidance, head coach Yutaka Ikeuchi expressed agreement with the directions set by VFF leadership, and affirmed that the coaching staff and players will strive to build a united, cohesive team, aiming for the best achievements to meet the expectations of fans.
