Malaysia's 'secret move' before the match against Vietnam

Before the encounter with Vietnam, Malaysia has arranged a confidential friendly to experiment with tactics, hide their game plan, and perfect the lineup for the important match ahead.

During preparations for the match against the Vietnam national team, the Malaysian national teamis likely to hold a closed-door friendly, with the Thai national team emerging as a notable candidate.

This information was revealed by coach Peter Cklamovski, who stated the team might organize an internal match or a spectator-free friendly to complete tactical preparations. “We may arrange a closed-door match. This is an effective way to test tactics, evaluate the lineup, and help players reach their optimal competitive state,” he shared.

According to the Australian strategist, closed-door friendlies offer numerous benefits, especially in simulating the opponent's playing style. It also provides an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess player performance and adjust tactics before key matches.

Although a specific opponent hasn't been confirmed, Thailand is considered a logical choice as the "War Elephants" are also preparing for a crucial match against Turkmenistan in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Both teams require quality tests before entering official matches.

Additionally, another option mentioned is BG Pathum United, a club competing in Thai League 1. This is entirely feasible since Malaysia is using this club's training center as their base during the training camp.

Currently, the entire Malaysian team is fully focused on the away match at Thiên Trường Stadium on March 31. Even though there is no chance to advance further, the match against Vietnam remains significant for maintaining form and preparing for the upcoming journey.
