Mohamed Salah announces departure from Liverpool

Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has officially confirmed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season, concluding a glorious nine-year journey at Anfield.

The news was announced by the 33-year-old player himself through an emotional video, leaving fans of the "Red Brigade" feeling regretful.

In his farewell message, Salah could not hide his emotions: "Leaving is never easy. Liverpool gave me the best period of my life. This place will always be my home." He also emphasized his special affection for the club, the city, and the supporters who accompanied him throughout the peak of his career.

According to the agreement between both parties, Liverpool has agreed to let Salah leave as a free transfer this summer, even though his current contract runs until 2027. This is seen as a decision based on mutual respect, given the uncertainty surrounding the Egyptian star's future over recent times.

Salah leaves Anfield as one of the greatest legends in the club's history. He scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, ranking third in the club's all-time scoring list, behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. During nearly a decade of dedication, Salah won 8 major and minor trophies, including 2 Premier League titles and notably the UEFA Champions League in 2019.

Although once an irreplaceable pillar, Salah's performance this season has shown signs of slowing down. After an explosive season with 34 goals, he has only scored 10 goals across all competitions. This partly reflects the overall decline of Liverpool under manager Arne Slot, who reportedly had conflicts with Salah earlier in the season.

In fact, the relationship between Salah and the coaching staff had become tense, especially after controversial statements where he felt he was "pushed out as a scapegoat." However, after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, the forward was reintegrated into the squad and continued to play regularly.

Vice-captain Andy Robertson expressed gratitude to his close teammate: "Your spirit is unmatched. You always push yourself and the team forward every day. It was an honor to stand alongside you."

Currently, Salah's future remains unclear. Clubs in Saudi Arabia, particularly Al-Ittihad, have pursued him aggressively with massive offers, while some teams in the United States and Europe are also closely monitoring the situation.

Nevertheless, for now, Salah affirms that he will focus fully on the remainder of the season, as Liverpool is still competing for a top 5 position. If they do not advance further in cup competitions, his final match in the red shirt is likely to be the home game against Brentford on May 24.

Mohamed Salah's departure will undoubtedly leave a significant void, not only professionally but also symbolically. For Liverpool fans, he is not just a great scorer, but an indispensable part of the club's golden memories.
