Liverpool is reportedly willing to overlook the final year of Mohamed Salah's contract, meaning he could leave as a free transfer when the 2025/26 season concludes.
According to revelations from Liverpool Echo, Liverpool will allow Mohamed Salah to leave the club as a free transfer in June 2026, even though the contract between both parties remains valid until 2027, after a mutual agreement was reached.
This means the Merseyside club accepts forfeiting a significant transfer fee they could have otherwise received. Previously, in the summer of 2023, Liverpool rejected a £150 million offer from Al Ittihad for the Egyptian star.
Recently, the long-concerning news for Liverpool fans has been officially confirmed, as Salah posted an emotional farewell video on social media, announcing his departure from Anfield.
Salah leaves as one of the greatest players in the club's history, currently ranking third in the all-time scoring list, behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. Since joining from AS Roma in 2017, he has built an impressive collection of trophies and could still aim to add the FA Cup and Champions League this season.
Throughout his time with The Kop, the forward born in 1992 played a crucial role in winning two Premier League titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups under both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot, while scoring a total of 255 goals.
In the 2024/25 season, even at 33 years old, Salah displayed peak performance by scoring 34 goals and contributing 23 assists in 52 matches, playing a key part in Liverpool's Premier League victory, thereby being honored as the PFA Player of the Year for the third time.
However, this season, his form has somewhat stalled with only 10 goals and nine assists in 34 appearances. Salah also had a conflict with manager Arne Slot in the winter of 2025 before returning to the squad.
Currently, Salah's next destination remains undetermined. His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, stated they do not yet know where he will play next season and warned fans to be cautious about unverified information.
