Coach Kim Sang Sik comments on using Son and Hên simultaneously

Coach Kim Sang Sik reveals the possibility of pairing Nguyễn Xuân Son and Đỗ Hoàng Hên, opening a new attacking option for the Vietnam National Team.

During this training camp, the Vietnam national team has undergone relatively thorough preparation. The entire team completed four training sessions at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, but it was only on March 24th that Coach Kim Sang-sik had the full squad available. Besides the arrival of Hoàng Hên, the lineup also noted the notable return of the duo Đoàn Văn Hậu and Trần Đình Trọng after a long absence.

Coach Kim Sang Sik shared noteworthy comments about newcomer Đỗ Hoàng Hên ahead of the Vietnam National Team's match. The Korean strategist expressed satisfaction that this naturalized midfielder was finally given an opportunity after many years playing in the V.League: “Regarding Hoàng Hên, after five years of contribution to clubs in the V.League, he deserves the chance to join the national team. I am very pleased about that,” he shared.

According to the coaching staff's assessment, Hoàng Hên's presence offers several new options for the attack: “Over the past days, observing Hoàng Hên's play, we noticed he provides multiple choices in attack, creating additional finishing and scoring opportunities,” Coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized.

Additionally, he mentioned the potential combination of Hoàng Hên with Nguyễn Xuân Son in the forward line: “With Xuân Son and Hoàng Hên, we can utilize two forwards or one central striker,” he added. However, Xuân Son currently has a minor thigh injury and will be thoroughly examined before a decision on his participation is made.

The match against the Bangladesh National Team is considered an important preparatory step for Vietnam before their rematch with the Malaysia National Team in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. According to the coaching staff's planning, Bangladesh is a suitable “test opponent” during the FIFA Days period, helping the team evaluate the lineup and maintain international match rhythm.

As planned, Coach Kim Sang-sik and his squad will have one more day to finalize preparations before entering the match at Hàng Đẫy Stadium on March 26th. This will be a crucial test before the national team returns to Thiên Trường Stadium to host Malaysia on March 31st.
