Thailand's national team faces another setback, risking elimination from the 2027 Asian Cup finals.

Thailand's national team is in a precarious situation ahead of a crucial match in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, having suffered consecutive personnel losses.

According to the latest information, veteran striker Teerasil Dangda sustained an injury during the 0-0 draw between True Bangkok United and PT Prachuap FC in the Thai League. This forced the experienced forward to withdraw from the national team, just hours after he was called up as a replacement for Yotsakorn Burapha, who had previously encountered a similar issue.

Given the severe depletion of attacking personnel, head coach Anthony Hudson promptly implemented a contingency plan by calling up Benjamin James Davis, a striker currently playing for Uthai Thani FC. This player is expected to join the national team on March 26 to prepare for the upcoming match.

According to the schedule, Thailand will face Turkmenistan in the sixth match of Group D in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The encounter is scheduled for 7:30 PM on March 31, 2026, at the Rajamangala National Stadium. This match is considered decisive for the "War Elephants" chances of securing a spot in the finals.

Earlier, Thailand national team player Ikhlas Sanharn revealed that recent training sessions have been highly intense. Thailand's new head coach is doing everything possible to motivate his players to defeat Turkmenistan and achieve their objective in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The consecutive loss of two forwards significantly impacts Thailand's attacking strength, as they must secure a favorable result against Turkmenistan. Pressure now weighs heavily on coach Hudson and his players, as any misstep could prove costly.
