Young defender Patrick Dorgu is speeding up his recovery at Carrington, with hopes of rejoining Manchester United's squad in April to keep shining as a left midfielder.
After a period of hamstring injury rehabilitation since the victory over Arsenal in January, Patrick Dorgu has officially resumed training at the Carrington center. The latest images show the 21-year-old player intensely focused on enhancing his fitness and strength under the close supervision of the coaching staff.
Initially, Dorgu's injury was predicted to sideline him for about 10 weeks. However, thanks to relentless training efforts, including a private training camp in Dubai, the Danish star could return earlier than expected. His current goal is to join the training camp in Ireland before participating in the match against Leeds United on April 13.
Dorgu's absence has been a significant loss for the Red Devils, as he was experiencing his peak period since leaving Lecce. Before the injury, Dorgu consistently made an impact with crucial goals against Manchester City and Arsenal, and provided assists in the match against Burnley.
This progress is not accidental but the result of dedicated training in crossing and finishing techniques. Under Ruben Amorim, he started as a wing-back, but Michael Carrick unlocked his attacking potential in the left midfield position.
Carrick commented enthusiastically: “Honestly, I think he can play both positions. I believe he has performed excellently, both in work intensity and constant threat. I don't want to assign him a specific role, but certainly in terms of attacking, he has shown impressive performance.”
Manchester United has only 7 Premier League matches remaining this season. Dorgu's return not only provides Carrick with a more dynamic attacking option but also saves the club tens of millions of pounds in the transfer market. Instead of searching for a new left midfielder in the summer, Dorgu's versatility is the perfect solution.
Although the club will be cautious in reintroducing him to avoid recurrence of the hamstring injury, the expectations from fans are immense. Patrick Dorgu has proven that he is not just a backup option, but a talent capable of deciding matches with thunderous volleys and fiery fighting spirit.
His remarkable progress over the past few months is precisely why Old Trafford is counting down the days to see the Danish player sprinting down the wing once again.
