OFFICIAL: Asian Cup Finals draw postponed, Vietnam National Team significantly affected

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirms that the group stage draw ceremony for the 2027 Asian Cup Finals will be postponed.

Due to the complex security situation currently unfolding in the Middle East, the Lebanese Football Association (LFA) recently announced a suspension of all domestic football activities until the end of April 2026. This also prevents the Lebanese National Team from assembling to play their final scheduled match against the Yemen National Team on March 31 in Qatar. It is understood that this match is expected to be postponed until June.

Notably, as this match cannot proceed as planned, the Asian Football Confederation has confirmed that the group stage draw ceremony for the 2027 Asian Cup Finals will also be postponed.

According to the initial announcement, the ceremony was scheduled to take place on April 11 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, after careful consideration, postponing the draw ceremony aims to ensure uninterrupted participation from all relevant parties.

The AFC expressed its gratitude to the Local Organising Committee of the AFC Saudi Arabia 2027 Asian Football Championship for their thorough preparations to host the draw ceremony as planned, and also appreciates the continuous understanding and cooperation of the participating member associations, fans, and stakeholders.

Information regarding the new draw ceremony will be announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in due course.

In Group B, Lebanon and Yemen are the two teams fiercely competing for the ticket to advance to the finals, while Brunei and Bhutan have both been eliminated early. Specifically, Lebanon leads with 13 points, and Yemen is in second place with 11 points.

Regarding the Vietnam National Team, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his squad have officially secured qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup Finals with 15 points after the first five matches. The entire team will have to wait for some time to determine their opponents in the continental tournament.
