Following Xuân Son, Hoàng Hên officially enters the history of the Vietnamese national team.

Đỗ Hoàng Hên had a memorable debut wearing the Vietnamese national team jersey when he started against Bangladesh, thereby following Xuân Son to mark a historic milestone for naturalized players under coach Kim Sang Sik.

On the evening of March 26th, the Vietnamese national team entered a friendly match against Bangladesh at Hàng Đẫy Stadium, with a special highlight in the starting lineup named Đỗ Hoàng Hên.

The midfielder, who is part of Hà Nội FC, was officially given the opportunity to start by coach Kim Sang-sik in his first appearance at the national team level. This is a memorable milestone, helping Hoàng Hên follow Nguyễn Xuân Son to become one of the rare naturalized players to enter the history of the Vietnamese national team under coach Kim Sang Sik.

Previously, Xuân Son opened the milestone by becoming the first naturalized player to play for the "Golden Star Warriors" under coach Kim Sang Sik. Therefore, Hoàng Hên's appearance carries special significance, marking a turning point in the personnel strategy of the national team.

Notably, in the list of 23 players gathered for the FIFA Days in March 2026, alongside key pillars like Đặng Văn Lâm, Nguyễn Quang Hải, or Phạm Tuấn Hải, the name Đỗ Hoàng Hên (formerly Hendrio Araujo) quickly attracted attention. He completed his Vietnamese naturalization procedures in October 2025 and, just a few months later, was given the opportunity to debut for the national team.

Being placed in the starting lineup right in his first match shows great trust from the coaching staff. With good individual technique, creative ability, and an energetic playing style, Hoàng Hên is expected to bring a fresh breeze to the midfield, contributing to diversifying the attacking options of the Vietnamese national team.

The form of the midfielder born in 1994 is also very impressive, as he scored 6 goals in 10 matches for Hà Nội FC this season, becoming the player who contributed to the most goals for the capital's team.

Speaking about his student, coach Kim Sang-sik affirmed that he is satisfied with what Hoàng Hên has shown recently and believes that the presence of this player will give the national team more options to approach the opponent's goal.

In his debut match, Hoàng Hên has a great opportunity to make an impression, as the opponent Bangladesh is only ranked 181st in the world and is currently not in good form. This is considered a perfect stepping stone for this naturalized midfielder to prove his value in the national team jersey.
