Bangladesh fans expressed a variety of contrasting opinions after their team's 0-3 loss to Vietnam at Hang Day Stadium.
The Bangladesh national team failed to create a surprise during their visit to Vietnam's home ground as they lost 0-3 in the international friendly match on March 26th. The three scorers for the host team were Pham Tuan Hai, Pham Xuan Manh, and Nguyen Hai Long, helping Coach Kim Sang Sik's squad secure a convincing victory.
After the match, many Bangladesh fans left numerous comments on social media, with most acknowledging that the Vietnam national team played superiorly and deserved the win.
One fan candidly wrote: “Vietnam is too strong; they are truly far superior to us.” Meanwhile, another account even suggested that Bangladesh was lucky not to suffer a heavier defeat: “We were lucky not to lose 7-0; Vietnam played excellently.”
Not only acknowledging the strength of the Vietnam national team, many Bangladesh fans also expressed concern for the Malaysia national team. A notable comment stated: “Malaysian fans should start feeling scared from now.”
Additionally, the lackluster performance of Bangladesh's attack became a topic of criticism. One fan remarked: “Playing without defense is better than playing defensively. We lack forwards with high competitive spirit. In summary, only Hamza, Zayan, and Samit are our players performing across the entire field.”
Some individual players were also scrutinized after the match. Mirajul Islam's case disappointed many as he left almost no impact. A sarcastic comment wrote: “Mirajul Islam couldn't even touch the ball once, despite wearing the number 10 jersey! This is the magic of Coach Takla.”
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh goalkeeper was the position receiving the most criticism after the 90 minutes. Many believed defensive errors, especially from the keeper, led to the visiting team's rapid collapse. Some harsh comments appeared like: “The goalkeeper played terribly”, “I don't know how long the coach will keep giving chances to this goalkeeper; he truly played very poorly”, or “The goalkeeper ruined today's match.”
Nevertheless, amidst the negative reactions, many Bangladesh fans maintained a calmer attitude. They considered the loss to the Vietnam national team predictable, and emphasized the importance of the whole team learning from the experience.
One fan shared: “I knew we would lose, but I would be satisfied with a loss not too wide. Let's see how we perform in the second half.” Others were more optimistic, viewing this defeat as a necessary lesson: “We lost but gained many lessons; our players will mature after this match”, or “The losing result was predicted beforehand, not too surprising. Failure is necessary for improvement.”
For the Vietnam national team, the victory provided Coach Kim Sang Sik and his players positive momentum ahead of their upcoming match against the Malaysia national team on March 31st.
