Vietnam National Team's comeback, Van Hau directly states goal to defeat Malaysia

Doan Van Hau was emotional on his return to the Vietnam National Team after three years, and expressed determination to defeat Malaysia together with the whole team to repay the fans.

After a long period struggling with injuries, Doan Van Hau officially marked his return to the Vietnam national team jersey with a comeback in the friendly match against Bangladesh on March 26th. The appearance of the 1999-born defender carries not only professional significance but also a positive morale signal for the whole team ahead of a crucial phase.

Being sent onto the pitch by Coach Kim Sang Sik in the second half, Van Hau played a solid role, showing stability after a long absence. Though not yet at his best form, what the CAHN club player displayed somewhat reassured the coaching staff about personnel options on the left flank.

Sharing after the match, Van Hau could not hide his emotions upon returning to the national team: "Hau himself is currently very happy and joyful. It is also a great honor for Hau to be able to return to the Vietnam national team. For Hau, getting to play is already a very happy thing, and Hau will strive to train better to improve and perform even better."

Not only speaking about himself, the 26-year-old defender also emphasized the importance of the victory over Bangladesh: "Today's match was also very important. The teammates tried hard to win to maintain our FIFA ranking position." This is seen as a necessary warm-up step both professionally and psychologically for the Vietnam national team.

To be included in the March 2026 training list, Van Hau underwent a commendable journey of effort. After over two years of treatment, he gradually regained form in the CAHN jersey with about 10 V.League matches, contributing 1 goal and 1 assist. His return along with Dinh Trong is expected to significantly strengthen the defense line.

Looking ahead to the match against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, Van Hau clearly expressed his determination: "The whole team's goal is to strive to play well and ensure fitness to prepare for the very important match against Malaysia.
