Vietnam team still has 'rough edges' after win against Bangladesh

Vietnam's decisive 3-0 victory over Bangladesh was a predicted outcome. However, behind the dominant performance and early three goals, there remain several issues that coach Kim Sang Sik must consider.

It is not difficult to see the disparity in skill level between the two teams. TheVietnamteam completely controlled the match from the start, creating numerous opportunities and deciding the game within just 45 minutes.

However, in the second half, when it should have been the stage to perfect their performance, the Vietnam team revealed many limitations.

The most notable point lies in the ability to capitalize on opportunities.Xuân Soncontinues to be a name that leaves much regret.

Entering the field with expectations to score and regain confidence, this striker still lacks the necessary sharpness. Final touches were not clean enough, ball handling lacked precision, partly affected by somewhat heavy physical condition.

Not only Xuân Son, Gia Hưng and Văn Khang also left viewers disappointed. A shot hitting the crossbar, a missed one-on-one situation were clear chances that, if utilized well, the score would not have stopped at 3-0.

Against a weak opponent like Bangladesh, such wastefulness may not have cost them, but when facing stronger teams, it will become a collective issue.

On the individual aspect,Văn Khanghas yet to make a distinct mark in the national team jersey. Though playing energetically and moving actively, his final touches still lack sophistication.

Hoàng Hên continues to show potential with technique and flexibility, but lacks luck in finishing. The shot hitting the post near the end of the second half is the clearest evidence of a performance that was "good but not complete".

Another issue lies in the tactical operation in the second half. When coach Kim Sang Sik introduced more attacking players, the expectation of a more explosive game did not materialize.

Instead, the Vietnam team played without clear ideas and mainly relied on inspired individual efforts. Attacking options were insufficiently diverse, mostly relying on wing plays or individual breakthroughs.

This precisely caused the coaching staff to feel restless. Many moments in the second half, television cameras captured coach Kim Sang Sik with a worried expression, dissatisfied. That was not a reaction to the result, but to how the players handled the match when everything was under control.

Nevertheless, not everything is worrisome. The combination between Quang Hải and Hoàng Đức in midfield showed quite positive signals, with decent game management and distribution. Additionally, the Hanoi FC group continues to be a pillar in terms of form, bringing inspiration and effectiveness in the first half.

The problem is that Bangladesh is not a sufficiently challenging "test". When the opponent is weaker in all aspects, Vietnam's limitations were not fully exploited.

But against opponents like Malaysia coming up, lack of sharpness and incoherent play at certain moments could cost the Vietnam team.

More than anyone, coach Kim Sang Sik knows that the "rough edges" from the Bangladesh win need to be smoothed out quickly, before the Vietnam team faces real challenges.
