Manager Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are anxiously awaiting updates on Noni Madueke's injury, after the player had to leave the field during the first half of the friendly match between England and Uruguay.
Noni Madueke is causing concern for Arsenal's coaching staff after being forced to leave the field during the first half of the friendly match between the England national team and the Uruguay national team. The star born in 2002 suffered a heavy collision with Rodrigo Aguirre near the edge of the penalty area, during a situation where he cut in from the right wing and was preparing to shoot.
Although Aguirre managed to retreat to win the ball, in the process, he collided with Madueke causing the player to fall on the pitch. Immediately afterward, the England national team's medical staff had to enter the field to provide care. Despite the quite severe collision, Madueke tried to continue playing, however his condition quickly showed signs of trouble.
After a few minutes of struggling to play, Madueke collapsed on the pitch and signaled for a substitution. The former Chelsea player left the field at minute 39 to give way to Jarrod Bowen, being escorted directly into the tunnel while holding his jaw area. This image clearly caused both manager Thomas Tuchel and Mikel Arteta considerable unease.
The extent of the injury has not yet been specifically determined, but there is a possibility Madueke suffered a concussion. If this is confirmed, the 24-year-old player will have to follow a strict recovery protocol, meaning he could miss Arsenal's upcoming domestic league match.
Madueke's injury can be seen as a heavy blow to Arsenal's Premier League title ambitions, especially as they currently hold a significant advantage in the race. Since the start of the season, this player has made 20 appearances in the league, contributing two goals and one assist. Although mainly serving as a backup for Bukayo Saka on the right flank, Madueke still brings a difference through his explosive speed and dribbling ability that often puts opposing defenses on the back foot.
Not only Madueke, Arsenal also received more unwelcome news as another key player faced physical issues during this national team training camp. Center-back Gabriel Magalhaes was unable to be included in the Brazil national team squad due to a knee injury, stemming from the Carabao Cup final where Arsenal lost 0-2 to Man City.
Regarding Madueke, the match against the Uruguay national team as well as against Japan next week was the final opportunity for him and other stars to make their mark in the competition for a World Cup spot. Therefore, having to leave the field early is regrettable for the star born in 2002, especially as he is gradually becoming a familiar figure in the lineup.
