Casemiro officially announces he will not change his mind and stay at Manchester United! Reveals final goal, supports Carrick's permanent appointment

Manchester United fans called for Casemiro to remain for one more season, but the 34-year-old Brazilian star chose to decline gently. Following his appearance for Brazil against France, "Fat Tiger" expressed that bidding farewell to the Red Devils this summer will be deeply emotional, yet he never intended to reverse his exit decision.

Back in January, Manchester United officially announced that Casemiro would leave after his contract expires this season. British media revealed that the club first decided not to renew his contract; Casemiro then suggested announcing this news early to prevent rumors and allow him to focus on playing, which the Red Devils accepted.

Under Carrick's management, Casemiro participated in all 10 matches for Manchester United, performing exceptionally well, especially scoring a crucial goal against Aston Villa, prompting Old Trafford spectators to chant "stay for another year." Unfortunately, this remains merely the fans' wishful thinking.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's primary reason for abandoning efforts to retain Casemiro is financial. When United do not participate in the Champions League, his annual salary is £15 million; if involved in the Champions League as in the 2023/24 season, Casemiro's yearly wage becomes £18 million. Fans often imagine players accepting reduced salaries to stay, yet for this to happen, Casemiro would need to lower his weekly wage by £200,000, which is impossible.

Manchester United emphasizes that they do not plan to reopen contract negotiations, and after Brazil's match against France on Thursday, Casemiro reiterated that the decision has been made, concluding his four-year tenure at the club.

"I am still enjoying my time in Manchester," Casemiro told The Athletic. "But I must stress, the announcement has been made; I thank the fans for their affection, which is truly touching. However, the decision is final and will not change. I will now savor everything ahead; I believe these final matches at United will inevitably evoke mixed emotions."

Casemiro's time at Manchester United has seen ups and downs, but the beginning and end will be positive. Personally, he has been in excellent form recently, but this experienced former Real Madrid superstar knows that United's match count this season is low, totaling only 40 games, an environment conducive to recovery. Next season's return to the Champions League will significantly increase the team's workload, possibly unsuitable for him nearing 35.

Another issue is that next season's manager remains undecided. If leading the team back to the Champions League, Carrick is considered the top candidate, with ideal results, familiarity with the dressing room, and close relationships with players and staff. Casemiro also praised this coach, only ten years older than himself, supporting his permanent appointment.

"Most importantly, Michael (Carrick) is an exceptional expert in the position I play; he truly was a remarkable player," Casemiro said. "With him around, everything becomes much easier. Moreover, he always communicates with us. I feel the current team atmosphere at United is good; my final goal is to help the team return to the Champions League."

In the Brazilian national team, Casemiro continues to perform excellently; although the team lost 1-2 to France, Fat Tiger was selected as the team's best player. Coach Ancelotti also praised: "At 34, he remains the best player on the field; one cannot sense any aging. The Casemiro I saw yesterday is just like during his peak at Real Madrid. He still possesses more energy than most younger players; this is the spirit I want players to have."
