Malaysian player confident about securing points against Vietnam national team

Malaysian national team midfielder Nooa Laine expressed confidence that the national team can achieve a positive result when facing Vietnam in the final Group F match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers at Thiên Trường Stadium (Ninh Bình) on March 31.

According to Laine, every player shares the common goal of winning, despite being fully aware of the significant challenges awaiting them when playing in front of the fervent support of the "Golden Star Warriors" fans.

"Of course, in every match we participate in, I want to win. I think the match against the Vietnam national team will be a difficult challenge.

But I also believe we have a good squad. It will be a tough game, but I am confident we can win," he shared.

The player of mixed heritage admitted that playing at Thiên Trường Stadium is not an easy task, especially when the home team always receives strong support from its local fans.

However, the Selangor FC midfielder believes the collective strength of the team will be the factor that makes a difference in this crucial match.

The confidence displayed by Laine is seen as fitting with the recent improvement in form of the Malaysian national team, thereby fueling fans' hopes that the team can achieve a positive result away from home.

According to statistics, Malaysia no longer has a chance to secure a spot in the 2027 Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia after only earning 9 points.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam national team has officially secured advancement as the group winner, as this edition's format only allows the top team in each group to qualify for the Asian Cup.

Nevertheless, a victory at Thiên Trường Stadium is still considered very important to maintain the team's dignity and restore fans' trust following the scandal where seven players were suspended by FIFA for falsifying documents.
