Vietnam Futsal Finalizes Squad, Confident to Conquer Southeast Asian Championship

Head Coach Diego Giustozzi has finalized the Vietnam futsal team roster before departing for the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship.

This morning, March 30, the Vietnam futsal team departed for Thailand to participate in the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, held from April 6 to 12 in Nonthaburi.

Before departure, Head Coach Diego Giustozzi trimmed the squad list to 15 players. According to the plan, the coaching staff will continue evaluating, selecting, and finalizing the official roster of 14 players one day before the opening match.

In the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship, the Vietnam futsal team is in Group A alongside opponents Myanmar, Timor-Leste, and host Thailand.

Among these, Thailand continues to be regarded as the most formidable opponent in the group and a top contender for the championship title.

To prepare for the tournament, the Vietnam futsal team assembled from March 16 in Ho Chi Minh City, implementing a training program focused on enhancing fitness, refining tactics, and reviewing the squad.

Sharing before departure, Coach Diego Giustozzi stated that the coaching staff is gradually rejuvenating the squad, aiming towards the long-term goals of Vietnam futsal.

"We must give opportunities to young players. For example, Thac Hieu performed well in the national U19 team. We have about two years to prepare for the 2028 Asian Championship with the crucial goal of securing a World Cup berth.

Therefore, this is the opportune time for young players to gradually be tested and honed in the national team environment."
