Vietnam's national team officially secured qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup Finals after Malaysia's national team was penalized by AFC with two 0-3 losses due to using improperly registered naturalized players.

The rematch between the Vietnam national team and Malaysia at 19:00 on March 31 at Thiên Trường Stadium now carries only procedural significance. However, Vietnam's national team needs to win this match, as it will help coach Kim Sang Sik and his team improve their position on the FIFA rankings.
