Manchester City has moved closer to securing their first Women's Premier League title in a decade following a devastating victory over Manchester United.

In the 19th round of the Women's Super League, Manchester City delivered an explosive performance, defeating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Vivianne Miedema once again showcased her class by becoming the focal point of the match, scoring a double within the first 20 minutes, allowing the visiting team to quickly impose their dominance and take control. In the second half, Kerstin Casparij added another goal to secure a convincing victory for Manchester City, concluding a flawless day for the blue-clad team.

This victory enables coach Andree Jeglertz's squad to establish a nine-point gap over Chelsea, who currently sit second with 40 points. Just behind are Arsenal and Manchester United, both with 38 points and still holding chances to compete in the final rounds.

Given that the Women's Super League consists of only 22 rounds, Manchester City holds a significant advantage. They need just at least one more point in the remaining matches to overtake Chelsea and move closer to their first domestic league title in club history. This season has witnessed Manchester City's exceptionally impressive form, with 16 wins, 2 draws, and only one loss against direct competitor Arsenal.

In stark contrast to the women's team's flourishing performance, the men's Manchester City squad is experiencing a challenging season. Pep Guardiola's team currently trails Arsenal by nine points in the Premier League standings, despite having one match yet to be played. Amid the situation where they have been eliminated from the Champions League, the domestic league title is regarded as their greatest hope to salvage a season that has not been truly stable, despite having recently won the Carabao Cup after defeating Arsenal themselves.
