European Vietnamese diaspora stars highly praised by Vietnam U23 coach

Coach Dinh Hong Vinh holds a high regard for the two diaspora players Tran Thanh Trung and Vadim Nguyen, anticipating that they will excel and play a crucial role for Vietnam U23 in the CFA Team China 2026 competition.

Vietnam U23 continues its crucial training days ahead of the final match at the CFA Team China 2026 tournament. In the current squad, interim coach Dinh Hong Vinh appreciates the two diaspora players, Tran Thanh Trung and Vadim Nguyen, emphasizing their professional qualities and competitive spirit. He expressed hope that over time, they will contribute more to the team's overall gameplay.

Tran Thanh Trung and Vadim Nguyen are diaspora Vietnamese faces called up for this tournament's Vietnam U23 squad. Vadim Nguyen joined training early with his Da Nang teammates, while Tran Thanh Trung, due to National Cup commitments, only joined just before the team departed for China.

In the previous matches against North Korea U23 and Thailand U23, Tran Thanh Trung started both games, while Vadim Nguyen came off the bench. Coach Dinh Hong Vinh noted that both have integrated well with the team and positively contributed to the collective play, despite their short training time.

According to the coaching staff's observations, Vadim Nguyen demonstrates skillful technique and agility, while Tran Thanh Trung stands out in individual technique and match-reading ability. However, their connection with teammates still requires more time to fully maximize their potential.

Vadim Nguyen, born in 2005, currently plays for Da Nang's first team in V-League 2025/26, capable of playing both central midfield and wing positions. Meanwhile, Tran Thanh Trung previously played for Bulgarian youth teams and was rated as one of the top three young players in the country during the 2024/25 season. He now plays for Ninh Binh with a notable contract and is expected to develop long-term in V-League.

Vietnam U23 will enter its final match at the CFA Team China 2026 tournament against China U23 at 18:35 on March 31. Coach Dinh Hong Vinh believes that with the progress of Tran Thanh Trung and Vadim Nguyen, the team will gain more quality options to aim for the best result in the decisive match.
