Midfielder Do Hoang Hen had a session returning to Thien Truong Stadium, ready to join the Vietnam national team as they head toward the match against the Malaysia national team in the final round of the Asian Cup 2027 qualifying group.
This afternoon (30/3), the Vietnam national team held its final training session at Thien Truong Stadium, preparing for the last match of Group F in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers against the Malaysia national team.
A notable highlight of the training session was the appearance of midfielder Do Hoang Hen, the naturalized star of the national team, who returned to his "former home" Thien Truong, where he had left a strong impression during his time wearing the Blue Steel Nam Dinh jersey. This return marks Hoang Hen officially bearing a Vietnamese name and no longer being called Hendrio as before, signifying a crucial turning point in his career.
Hoang Hen joined Blue Steel Nam Dinh from Binh Dinh FC in January 2023 and quickly established synergy with teammate Nguyen Xuan Son, another naturalized star of the Vietnam national team.
Over nearly two seasons playing for the Nam-based club, he appeared in 63 matches total, scoring 19 goals and providing 21 assists, playing a key role in helping the team win two V-League championships in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons along with the 2023/24 Super Cup. After leaving Thien Truong in March last year, Hoang Hen chose Hanoi FC as his next destination and continues to stay there up to now.
After completing his naturalization procedures in October last year, Hoang Hen was first called up to the Vietnam national team in this March training camp and had an impressive debut in the victory over Bangladesh. His presence promises to bring additional strength to the midfield and enhance the team's attacking link-up capability.
Regarding the Vietnam national team, Coach Kim Sang Sik will almost have the full 23 best players available for the match against Malaysia, with Khuat Van Khang returning to training after a period of doubt about his physical condition, while attacking stars like Xuan Son also appear extremely enthusiastic and ready to give their all.
Although they have already secured a spot in the Asian Cup 2027 finals, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his players still aim to secure all three points, both to affirm their resilience and demonstrate their spirit of playing for the national colors, while also building positive momentum for upcoming continental matches.
The match between the Vietnam national team and the Malaysia national team will take place at 19:00 tomorrow (31/3) at Thien Truong Stadium.
