Identify the top 8 teams advancing to the quarter-finals of the 2026 National U15 Championship

On April 6th afternoon, the final stage of the group matches in the National U15 Finals – Modern Cup 2026 concluded with the last matches of Group A. Consequently, the 8 teams that secured spots in the quarter-finals have been officially determined.

In Group A, two matches took place at 15:00 between Ho Chi Minh City – SLNA and Tay Ninh – Ninh Bình. Since SLNA had already secured their advancement ticket after the first two rounds, the encounter between SLNA and Ho Chi Minh City no longer held significant importance regarding standings. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City was already certain to be eliminated as they had not earned any points.

The focal point of the match day centered on the "final" match of Group A between Tay Ninh and Ninh Bình. Before the match, both teams had 3 points, but Ninh Bình ranked higher due to goal difference. Therefore, Tay Ninh was forced to win to secure their advancement ticket, while Ninh Bình only needed a draw.

From the start of the match, Tay Ninh proactively pushed their formation forward to seek a goal. In the 16th minute, this team was awarded a penalty after a Ninh Bình player committed a foul inside the penalty area. From the 11-meter spot, Huu Quang executed successfully, opening the score 1-0 for Tay Ninh.

Just two minutes later, Tay Ninh faced adversity when Tuan Anh received his second yellow card and had to leave the field, leaving this team to play with only 10 men. Capitalizing on the advantage, Ninh Bình continued to increase pressure, and by the 66th minute, Minh Huy scored to equalize 2-2.

However, Ninh Bình's joy did not last long. Only three minutes later, from a free-kick situation, Ngoc Quang unleashed a beautiful finishing shot, securing a 3-2 victory for Tay Ninh. With this result, Tay Ninh became the final team to earn a ticket to the quarter-finals.

In the remaining match, although merely procedural, SLNA still demonstrated superior strength and achieved a decisive 6-0 victory over Ho Chi Minh City.

Thus, the 6 group winners and runners-up secured tickets to the quarter-finals including: SLNA, Tay Ninh (Group A); PVF, The Cong Viettel I (Group B); Hanoi I, SHB Da Nang (Group C). The remaining two spots were awarded to the two best-performing third-placed teams: Becamex Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Nam.
