Thai Coach Makes Firm Statement Ahead of Southeast Asian Final Against Indonesia

The head coach of Thailand's national futsal team confirms having studied Indonesia extensively prior to the Southeast Asian championship match.

The Thailand National Futsal Team has advanced to the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Final against Indonesia. In the semifinals, Thailand defeated Australia 4-3, while Indonesia beat Vietnam 2-1. This is considered the dream final of the tournament between the two strongest futsal nations in the region.

Coach Mee Rakphon Sai Netram, the head coach of Thailand's national futsal team, shared his perspective on the Indonesian national team they will face in the final.

"Actually, Indonesia is a team I know very well. With their current squad, Indonesia is not bringing their best players, featuring many young athletes. This does not represent the full strength of Indonesian futsal, as about three players were runners-up in the 2025 Asian Futsal Championship. However, the current players also possess good skills and are key pillars of their clubs."

Nevertheless, in reality, Indonesia remains the reigning champion. I do not believe Indonesia will merely send players for experience. Meanwhile, I do not focus on how the opponent will be because the most important thing is that the Thai futsal team must strive to the utmost; we must prepare as fully as possible for this tournament.

Before today's match, all players knew that Indonesia had secured victory. Of course, everyone wants to be determined. But it seems the players also concentrated so much that they created pressure for themselves. We also tried to talk to all players to focus on playing the best possible game.

Overall, the Thai futsal team made quite many mistakes in the recent semifinal, especially in defense. We started the match well to a certain extent but not excellently. When leading by one goal, the Thai players seemed to overthink, sometimes making simple things difficult."
