For Courtois to reappear in European competition, the Royal club must first overcome a major challenge. Los Blancos need to stage a comeback after a 1-2 defeat against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the quarter-finals. If successful, they will face PSG or Liverpool in the semi-finals.

For now, the coaching staff must rely on the current defensive setup. However, the prospect of regaining one of the world's best goalkeepers in the semi-finals would be a pivotal development.
