OFFICIAL: Manchester United faces reigning Champions League champion

Manchester United has announced its summer friendly match schedule, including a showdown with the Champions League winner of the 2024/25 season.

Manchester United has released details of its summer tour itinerary, featuring matches in Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

The highlight of the preparations for the 2026/27 season will be a clash with PSG, the reigning Champions League champion who are also competing in the quarter-finals, taking place at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg on August 8. Prior to that, the "Red Devils" will face Atletico Madrid in the Snapdragon Cup at Strawberry Arena in Stockholm on August 1.

Additionally, the Old Trafford side will meet Wrexham AFC at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki on July 18, before facing Norwegian representative Rosenborg BK at Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim on July 24.

Earlier, a friendly match against rival Leeds United was confirmed, scheduled at Croke Park in Dublin on August 12. This will be the first time two English clubs play at this stadium. However, Leeds' participation depends on them retaining their Premier League status and not being involved in the next season's Community Shield (if they win the FA Cup).

The Premier League season 2026/27 is expected to start on August 22, later than usual due to the impact of the 2026 World Cup in North America, and will run until May 30.

Manchester United's football director, Jason Wilcox, stated: “Following the announcement of the match against Leeds United in Dublin, we are delighted to confirm four additional preseason friendlies in the Nordic region.

We are excited to play in fantastic cities against quality opponents, crucial tests for the entire squad. Manchester United has the best supporters in the world, and this schedule offers a chance to connect with fans across Europe. We eagerly look forward to taking the field and giving our utmost ahead of a challenging season.”
