Madam Pang makes a big move, bringing a top European star to join the Thai national team.

Madam Pang confirms Thailand is nearing the completion of signing Thai-Swedish defender Erik Kahl, who could debut in the June FIFA Days period.

According to information from Siam Sport, Thai football is receiving positive signals in its efforts to strengthen the squad, as the President of the Football Association of Thailand, Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang) confirmed that the national team is preparing to add a high-quality naturalized player of Thai-Swedish descent.

Specifically, Madam Pang stated that defender Erik Kahl is very close to joining the Thai national team. It was revealed that negotiations between the Football Association of Thailand and the player have reached 90% completion, indicating the deal could be finalized soon.

Siam Sport quotes the FAT President saying that if everything goes smoothly, Erik Kahl could be called up to the national team during the FIFA Days in June. This is seen as a crucial preparation step for the "War Elephants" ahead of major tournaments like the AFF Cup 2026 and the Asian Cup 2027 finals.

At 24 years old, Erik Kahl is considered a modern defender with an ideal physique (1.83m tall), capable of playing well as both a left-back and a center-back. He currently plays for AGF Aarhus in the Danish national league and previously represented the Swedish U21 team from 2020 to 2022.

Not only impressing with his European experience, Erik Kahl also shows consistency by playing over 30 matches in the most recent season across all competitions. This has made him a long-term target for the FAT, as Thailand aims to upgrade its defense with physically strong and internationally experienced players.

Madam Pang's push to recruit dual-nationality players is seen as a strategic move to elevate the national team. If the Erik Kahl deal is finalized, it will be a notable addition to Thailand's ambitions in regional and continental tournaments in the coming period.
