Coach Hector Souto states Indonesia does not fear Thailand in the AFF 2026 futsal final, even though the rival is considered stronger and boasts several World Cup-experienced players.
Coach Hector Souto shared notable remarks ahead of the AFF 2026 futsal final, where the Indonesian futsal team will face the Thai futsal team in the race for the championship.
After overcoming the Vietnamese futsal team with a 3-2 score in the semifinals, Indonesia enters the final match with high spirits. However, the Spanish coach remains cautious, acknowledging the opponent's strength. “The Thai squad includes up to six players who participated in the most recent futsal World Cup. If they reach the final, they are clearly the top contenders,” he noted.
Moreover, Souto specifically highlighted standout individuals from the host team. “They have a player competing in Spain like Osamanmusa Muhammad, a very quality defensive midfielder and one of the best players in the tournament,” he added.
Nevertheless, this strategist affirmed Indonesia is not intimidated. “We came here to compete with any team that reaches the final. Even if they are rated higher, we will fight to the fullest,” Souto emphasized.
He also admitted the advantages Thailand currently holds. “Playing at home is always a major advantage. When players have competed together for a long time, they understand the coach's requirements and execute the gameplay better,” he analyzed.
However, Coach Souto still places absolute trust in his students. “But we are Indonesia. We will play our way and fight to become champions. Making it to the final makes me very proud of the entire team,” he asserted.
With determined spirit and high confidence, Indonesia is expected to deliver an exciting final, where they will not only confront a strong opponent but also challenge their own limits.
