Speaking at the press conference before the group stage of the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship, head coach Cristiano Roland affirmed that the U17 Vietnam team has prepared seriously and will enter the tournament with high concentration, tackling each match step by step to aim for the furthest progress.

In his opening remarks, coach Cristiano Roland thanked the host nation Indonesia's organizing committee for the thoughtful reception, and mentioned that the team had 10 days of training in Hanoi before departing for the tournament. According to the Brazilian strategist's assessment, the U17 Vietnam group stage shares many similarities with the previous qualifying round, and also gathers opponents with high professional quality.

Besides preparation for the immediate tournament, coach Cristiano Roland also shared about the development direction of Vietnam football's youth force. According to him, the current generation of players, including many born in 2010, has been prepared early and is gradually maturing. Notably, some young players born in 2008 have already had opportunities to play in V.League and even scored goals, showing positive development potential.

Regarding the journey ahead, coach Cristiano Roland stated that the U17 Vietnam team is still in the process of refinement. Through each match, the players will mature and improve,” he shared.
