From the opening minutes, SLNA showed initiative with direct attacking moves. In the 11th minute, Hoang Van Khanh delivered a precise long pass for Tran Manh Quynh to sprint forward and finish, but the ball went wide with regret. Shortly after, the home team at Vinh Stadium had a chance to celebrate when they put the ball into the net, however the goal was not recognized due to a handball violation in the final phase of the play.
The remainder of the first half saw a stalemate. Both teams played cautiously, prioritizing solidity in the midfield, so clear opportunities did not appear frequently.
Moving into the second half, the scenario did not change much until an individual mistake broke the balance. In the 55th minute, naturalized defender Do Phi Long fouled Vuong Van Huy inside the penalty area, forcing the referee to point to the penalty spot. From the 11-meter mark, Michael Olaha made no mistake to score the opening goal.
Trailing behind, Da Nang had to push their formation higher in the remaining time. Nevertheless, the away team's attacking options lacked sharpness to penetrate SLNA's tightly organized defensive system. Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan also did not have further chances to redeem himself as the home team's offense was stagnant.
In the end, SLNA secured a minimal 1-0 victory, thereby strengthening their position in the middle of the standings. Conversely, Da Nang continues to face significant pressure in the relegation battle as they could not improve their ranking after this round.
Song Lam Nghe An is entering a crucial phase with relatively stable form. Apart from the loss to Hanoi FC, the Nghe-based team maintains a positive streak, including a commendable performance when they drew with The Cong Viettel despite being very close to victory. Stability in play and morale helps SLNA temporarily stand in a safe position with 20 points, but this gap is not sufficiently secure as the season is still long.
Therefore, hosting SHB Da Nang carries pivotal significance. With the advantage of Vinh Stadium and better psychological state, SLNA has a significant opportunity to break away, thereby creating a clear distance from the bottom group.
On the opposite side, Da Nang is in a difficult situation. Two consecutive defeats against Cong An Hanoi FC, especially the heavy 5-1 loss, reveal many issues in their operational system. A fragile defense, while the frontline lacks sharpness, has plunged the Han River team into a dangerous spiral.
In a context where there are not many opportunities left to correct mistakes, Da Nang must play with a "all-or-nothing" mentality. However, facing a SLNA that currently has better balance, the likelihood of the home team securing all three points is a plausible scenario if they maintain focus throughout the 90 minutes.
