Vietnam's U19 futsal team has just suffered a heavy defeat with a score of -14 against Russia.
According to the latest information, Vietnam's U19 futsal team suffered its first defeat 0-14 against Russia in the series of two friendly matches in Ho Chi Minh City. This result is quite surprising because back in October 2024, Vietnam's U19 futsal team was also given the opportunity to play a friendly match with Russia's U19 futsal team and achieved much more positive results.
Nearly two years ago, in the first leg, Vietnam's U19 futsal team won 4-2 against Russia's U19 futsal team, and in the subsequent rematch, Coach Trịnh Hữu Thành's players drew with the opponent with a score of 2-2. Vietnam's U19 futsal team will still have the opportunity to seek a better result in the remaining friendly match with Russia on April 13.
As part of the plan for youth training and building a successor force for the national futsal team, Vietnam's U19 futsal team is given the opportunity by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to gather and conduct its first training session in 2026.
The training session takes place from April 6 to April 14, 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, with the highlight being two international friendly matches against Russia's U19 futsal team on April 11 and April 13. This is an important opportunity for young players to compete against quality opponents, accumulate international match experience, train psychologically, and improve adaptability. Through these matches, the coaching staff also gains more basis to evaluate player capabilities, adjust training plans, aiming to build a deep youth futsal force that meets the succession requirements for the national team.
Vietnam's U19 futsal team is led by head coach Nguyễn Bảo Trung, along with assistants who are experienced former national team players including Nguyễn Đức Duy, Danh Phát, and Khổng Đình Hùng.
Maintaining training and organizing international friendly matches continues to affirm the consistent direction of VFF in youth futsal development, focusing on creating a practical competition environment, from domestic tournaments to international exposure, aiming to improve the quality of human resources for Vietnamese futsal in the future.
