According to L’Equipe, Ousmane Dembele, the reigning Ballon d'Or winner, is currently refusing to enter into contract extension negotiations with PSG. Despite remaining a key figure under manager Luis Enrique, the Parisian club has had to temporarily halt talks with the French star.

The report indicates several reasons why Dembele is not rushing to sign a new deal. The forward, born in 1997, wants to clarify the club's salary cap for the next season and also prefers not to discuss his future until after the World Cup. Additionally, his performance in the upcoming major tournament is seen as a factor that could enhance his negotiating position. His decision also depends on PSG's journey in the Champions League, where they have just won 2-0 in the first leg of the quarter-final and are preparing for the return leg at Liverpool's Anfield.

In case negotiations break down, the possibility of Dembele moving to the Premier League is considered entirely plausible, alongside interest from the Saudi Pro League. Playing in England has long been a topic of discussion, while the financial allure of its clubs makes it a potential destination. The Middle East is also an equally attractive option, as the case of N’Golo Kante at Al Ittihad shows that playing in Saudi Arabia does not affect the chance to wear the French national team jersey.

At present, Dembele remains focused on finishing the season with PSG, especially the crucial match at Anfield, before turning his attention to the 2026 World Cup with the French national team. If he leaves Ligue 1 in the future, a move to the Premier League is likely to become a focal point of the summer transfer window.
