Yamal sets an unprecedented record, Barcelona bitterly eliminated

Young talent Lamine Yamal continues to make headlines by setting a new record in the Champions League, despite Barcelona's elimination, affirming his exceptional talent beyond his age and a bright future ahead.

Despite Barcelona having to stop their journey in the UEFA Champions League, young talent Lamine Yamal still managed to leave a strong impression by achieving new historical milestones.

At the age of 18 and 275 days, the Spanish star officially became the youngest player ever to reach 20 goal involvements in the Champions League. Up to now, he has scored 11 goals and provided 9 assists, an astonishing achievement for a player not yet 19 years old.

This special milestone was established by Yamal during Barcelona's 2-1 victory Barcelona against Atletico Madrid in the quarter-final second leg. In the 4th minute, the winger born in 2007 opened the scoring, igniting hope for a comeback for the Catalan team. However, his individual effort was insufficient as Barcelona was still eliminated with an aggregate score of 2-3 after two matches.

Not stopping there, Yamal also broke another record: becoming the youngest player to achieve 10 or more goal involvements in a single Champions League season. This achievement previously belonged to Erling Haaland, who had 11 goal involvements at just 19 years old.

In the 2025/26 season, Yamal contributed a total of 10 goal involvements (6 goals, 4 assists) in the Champions League, including 3 goals in the knockout stages, demonstrating his composure in big matches. Notably, he surpassed many top European stars in this statistic during the same season.
