The Indonesian women's national team wrapped up their FIFA Series 2026 campaign with a notable 4-2 win against New Caledonia, thus claiming the final third position.
The match took place on the afternoon of April 15 at Ratchaburi Stadium in Thailand. Under the guidance of coach Satoru Mochizuki, "Garuda Pertiwi" started confidently and quickly dominated the game. Sheva Imut became the highlight with a brace, while Emily Nahon and Claudia Scheunemann also scored successively, helping Indonesia establish a significant advantage over their opponent.
However, New Caledonia did not give up easily. Moving into the second half, the Oceanian representative fought back strongly, creating several dangerous opportunities. Leana Hmae and Julia Honakoko scored in turn, narrowing the gap and making the final minutes tense. Nevertheless, Indonesia maintained control to end the match with a 4-2 victory.
With this result, captain Gea Yumanda and her teammates secured the overall third-place position—an encouraging achievement, demonstrating clear progress for Indonesian women's football on the international stage.
Previously, Indonesia suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat against DR Congo in the semifinals, a match that revealed a significant disparity in skill between the two teams, despite their FIFA rankings not being too far apart.
In the final match, DR Congo will face host nation Thailand also at Ratchaburi Stadium. This is predicted to be an exciting contest as both teams have shown impressive form earlier.
