A large number of young Vietnamese players are about to compete against teams from South Korea and Japan.

Many young players from the U14 teams of HAGL, Hanoi, SLNA... will have the chance to face football teams from Japan, South Korea, and China.

In May, the U14 Gia Lai International Football Tournament 2026 will officially commence at Pleiku Arena and Ham Rong Training Center (Gia Lai), promising to deliver exciting matches between young domestic and international teams.

This year's tournament features 12 teams, including 5 representatives from Vietnam: U14 PVF, U14 Hoang Anh Gia Lai, U14 Song Lam Nghe An, U14 Hanoi, and U14 Truong Tuoi Dong Nai. Additionally, notable international guest teams include U14 Malaysia, U14 Jubilo Iwata (Japan), U14 Gangwon, U14 Mohyeon (South Korea), U14 Shenzhen (China), U14 Chonburi (Thailand), and U14 Khamsay (Laos).

According to the competition format, the 12 teams will be divided into 4 groups, playing a single round-robin to accumulate points and determine rankings. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best-performing third-place teams, will secure spots in the quarter-finals. From this round onward, matches proceed in a knockout format to determine the semi-final and final participants. The two losing semi-finalists will compete in the third-place match, while the remaining teams continue to play for rankings from 5th to 12th place.

Each match lasts 60 minutes, divided into two halves of 30 minutes each, with a 10-minute halftime break. In knockout round matches, if the two teams draw after regular time, a penalty shootout will be applied immediately to decide the winner, without an extra period.

With the participation of many quality youth training academies in the region, the tournament is expected to create a beneficial competitive environment, helping young players accumulate experience and develop their skills.
