Santos Club confirms the completion of contract renewal with Robinho, thereby retaining this player at the club until 2031.
Santos Club has officially announced the contract extension with young talent Robinho Junior, son of former Brazilian star Robinho, until March 30, 2031.
Sharing after signing the new contract, the forward stated: “I feel extremely happy. Everyone knows how much I love this club. I was born here and have always been a Santos fan. Continuing my long-term commitment to the team brings me great pride.”
Previously, the contract of this 18-year-old winger was only valid until 2027. Robinho Junior joined Santos in 2022, the club that has produced world-class stars like Pele, Neymar or Rodrygo, and made his debut for the first team in July last year.
Up to now, he has made 24 appearances for the Sao Paulo-based club, mostly coming off the bench.
“After the renewal, my responsibility will be greater. But I am ready to dedicate myself fully and contribute more to the club I love,” Robinho Junior added.
Robinho Junior is the son of the former forward who played for Real Madrid, Man City, and AC Milan. Currently, his father is serving a prison sentence in Sao Paulo after being convicted by an Italian court for rape.
Specifically, Robinho's father was sentenced to nine years in prison for involvement in a gang rape of an Albanian woman in Milan in 2013. For a long time, he remained free in Brazil because the country's constitution does not allow the extradition of citizens. However, in March 2024, the Brazilian Supreme Court recognized the sentence from Italy and ordered its enforcement domestically.
Since then, he has been serving the sentence under strict detention. All appeal efforts to reduce the sentence or transfer to a lighter detention regime have been unsuccessful.
In another development, Santos is experiencing a difficult period professionally. Neymar and his teammates are currently near the relegation zone in the Brazilian National Championship and are bottom of the table in Copa Sudamericana after the first two matches.
