Vietnam's top football leader assigned key role at Asian tournament

VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu once again receives confidence from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), entrusted with the position of AFC Team Leader managing Beach Soccer for the 2026 Asian Beach Games.

This is a significant role, demonstrating the recognition from AFC towards the organizational and managerial capabilities, as well as the reputation of Vietnam's football leadership on the continental stage.

Beach Soccer at this year's Games features seven teams, divided into two groups. Group A includes China, Oman, and Palestine; while Group B consists of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and UAE. Teams compete in a single round-robin format within each group, with the top two advancing to the semifinals. The semifinal winners compete for the Gold medal, while the losers compete for the Bronze medal.

According to the schedule, Beach Soccer matches will take place from April 23 to 29 in Sanya, Hainan (China). Organizational efforts are being coordinated comprehensively, ensuring professional standards and competition conditions as stipulated by AFC.

Speaking on behalf of AFC at the technical meeting held this morning (April 22), VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu extended greetings to the participating teams, officials, and athletes, emphasizing that this event gathers Asia's top teams, showcasing not only professional skill but also spreading the spirit of unity, friendship, and fair-play in beach soccer. Mr. Tran Anh Tu commended the proactive preparations by the local organizing committee, volunteers, and stakeholders in delivering a high-quality tournament, contributing to the overall success of the Games.

VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu currently serves as a member of the AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee. He is also recognized as one of the foundational figures who vigorously promoted the development of Vietnamese futsal, helping train many generations of quality players and enabling Vietnamese futsal to gradually affirm its position in regional and international arenas.
