Right after the opening whistle, Svay Rieng started proactively and quickly created momentum. In the 12th minute, Cristian made a clever through pass for Sieng Chanthea to break through and face the goal, but the final shot narrowly missed, going over the crossbar.

However, the Thai team was the one that better utilized opportunities. In the 16th minute, from a chaotic situation in the penalty area, Wisarut Imura's not-so-accurate shot unintentionally became an assist when the ball touched a Svay Rieng defender, allowing Rungrat Phumichantuk to control and finish precisely, opening the score for Bangkok United.

After conceding, Svay Rieng pushed their formation higher and continuously pressured the opponent's goal. The efforts of the Cambodian representative were rewarded just at the end of the first half. In Group B, Nam Dinh Club won the group top spot, while Johor Darul Ta'zim ranked second. Accordingly, Nam Dinh will face Selangor FC in the semifinals, and Johor Darul Ta’zim will meet Buriram United. The tournament's final will be played in a two-leg format, scheduled for May 20 and 27.
