Easy win, Barcelona aims for the championship

Barcelona narrowly overcame Celta Vigo thanks to a penalty by Lamine Yamal, extending their winning streak and solidifying their top position in La Liga.

Barcelona continued their excellent form in La Liga by defeating Celta Vigo 1-0 at Camp Nou, firmly securing their lead at the top with a 9-point gap over the chasing teams.

The match started at a high tempo, with both teams creating chances from the very first seconds. Celta Vigo entered confidently and nearly scored first if Ferran Jutglà had better utilized his one-on-one opportunity against goalkeeper Joan García. Conversely, Barcelona suffered an early setback when João Cancelo had to leave the field due to injury in the 20th minute.

Despite controlling the ball more, the home team struggled to penetrate Celta's tight defense. Only towards the end of the first half did a turning point emerge when Lamine Yamal was fouled inside the penalty area. From the penalty spot, this young talent made no mistake, scoring the only goal of the match and his 16th goal in La Liga this season.

The second half witnessed a strong resurgence effort from Celta Vigo. The visiting team continuously applied pressure and caused Barcelona significant difficulties in their ball development. Ferran Torres once put the ball into the net with a beautiful volley following Pedri's pass, but the goal was not recognized after VAR intervened.

Nevertheless, Barcelona preserved their slender advantage until the end. This victory extended their winning streak to 8 matches in La Liga, while maintaining an unbeaten record against Celta Vigo in their last 6 encounters. Meanwhile, Celta, despite playing with great effort, had to accept defeat and temporarily stand 7th in the league table.
