Ruben Amorim is likely to make a comeback in the Premier League next season, as a club reportedly has placed him on its priority target list.
According to TeamTalk, Crystal Palace has identified Ruben Amorim as one of the leading candidates for the head coach position, given that Oliver Glasner will depart the club at the end of the season. The Austrian strategist concludes a successful tenure at Selhurst Park, highlighted by winning the FA Cup in 2025.
Glasner's departure opens an opportunity for Amorim to return to the Premier League soon. Since parting ways with Manchester United earlier this year, the Portuguese tactician has not taken on a new role, despite receiving compensation of around £10 million as his contract was still valid until 2027.
Earlier in April, amid links to Benfica and Juventus, there were reports that Amorim was not rushing back into coaching. However, it remains unclear whether he will change his stance this summer.
Previously, in early January 2026, Amorim left Old Trafford after a disappointing period. Under his leadership, the "Red Devils" failed in the Europa League final and finished only 15th in the Premier League. However, since Michael Carrick took temporary charge, the team has shown clear improvement and is aiming for a third-place finish and a Champions League spot.
Despite not succeeding in England, Amorim maintains his reputation due to his achievements at Sporting Lisbon, where he won two domestic league titles. Consequently, several Premier League clubs are reportedly willing to give the 1985-born coach a second chance.
Besides Amorim, Crystal Palace is also considering other options. Andoni Iraola will leave Bournemouth this summer upon contract expiration and is among the candidates, along with Thomas Frank and former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane. Additionally, Frank Lampard, who recently helped Coventry City secure promotion, is also seen as a potential choice, though it is unclear whether he is ready to leave his current club.
