Jurgen Klopp stated that the new training base of the New York Red Bulls is so striking that it nearly tempted him to resume his coaching career.
Recently, Jurgen Klopp, the head of global football for the Red Bull system, attended the inauguration ceremony of the new facility for the New York Red Bulls, a team competing in MLS.
Klopp left his position as Liverpool manager in the summer of 2024 and has not coached any team since then. Recently, he was linked with the possibility of taking over Real Madrid this summer, but he dismissed those reports and called them "ridiculous" last month.
“This morning was a moment when I walked in and thought, 'this is something I might miss,' because since leaving the coaching role, I haven't really felt the absence of anything,” Klopp shared at the inauguration ceremony
“But when entering a facility like this on a nice weather day… fortunately today the weather isn't too good, otherwise I might have returned to coaching. It's truly fantastic.”
The New York Red Bulls are one of several clubs owned by the Red Bull group that Klopp oversees, alongside RB Leipzig in Germany, Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, and Bragantino in Brazil, since he assumed this role in January 2025.
Previously, Klopp visited the construction site in Morris Township, New Jersey, in September and called it a project "on a completely different level." He also revealed that he provided some feedback before the facility was officially completed.
“This is a good moment for football, for Red Bull New York,” Klopp said. “I wasn't involved in the initial planning or design. I came here a few months ago, walked around, and suggested a few minor adjustments, as this isn't my first time participating in such projects. It's beautiful and feels like a proper beginning.”
At the ribbon-cutting inauguration ceremony, the German strategist was accompanied by many former players who wore the Red Bull jersey, including Thierry Henry, along with MLS President Don Garber.
The new complex spans approximately 80 acres, including 8 outdoor fields meeting standards, and will serve the first team, second team, and youth academy.
This summer, it will also be the headquarters for the Brazilian national team in their quest to win the World Cup for the sixth time in history.
“I didn't need to convince Brazil, they saw it and wanted to come here themselves,” Klopp said. “We just had to ensure they don't use the entire facility, because we also have our own team. I didn't need to persuade anyone, and certainly not Carlo. He knows what's good when he sees it, and he saw it.”
