Forward Van Duong could not conceal his joy following Vietnam U17's victory in the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship.
Forward Van Duong had a brilliant performance night by scoring a double, playing a key role in helping Vietnam U17 secure a convincing 3-0 victory over Malaysia U17 in the final of the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Van Duong expressed his delight in sharing the championship with his teammates. The young forward emphasized that team unity was the key to the squad's success. “Despite the short preparation time, the whole team always stayed united and played their hearts out for the national colors. The tournament was a valuable experience that allowed us to learn many things from regional opponents. We thank Coach Roland and the coaching staff for their constant trust and dedicated guidance”, Van Duong shared.
Not only shining in the final, Van Duong also maintained consistent scoring form throughout the tournament. His double against Malaysia U17 brought his total goals to six, placing him second in the top scorers list, just behind Australia U17 forward Georgio Hassarati with 11 goals.
Despite winning the regional championship, Van Duong stated the entire team would not rest on their laurels. This forward affirmed that Vietnam U17 would quickly return to training to aim for bigger goals ahead.
The victory over Malaysia U17 not only brought the title to Vietnam U17 but also provided crucial psychological momentum before stepping onto the continental stage, where Coach Roland and his team will face greater challenges.
