Goalkeeper Ly Xuan Hoa delivered an excellent tournament performance, earning the title of "Best Goalkeeper" at the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship, significantly contributing to Vietnam U17's path to the championship.
Throughout six matches from the group stage to the final, Xuan Hoa demonstrated consistent form and commendable composure. Vietnam U17's goalkeeper had to retrieve the ball from his net only once, during the semifinal match against Australia U17. This also represented the tournament's most impressive defensive record, as Vietnam U17 became the team with the fewest conceded goals.
Not only solid in saving situations, Xuan Hoa also showed effective command of the defensive line, helping the team maintain stability throughout the tournament. This goalkeeper's confidence and quick reflexes repeatedly enabled Vietnam U17 to withstand pressure from opponents.
Alongside Xuan Hoa's award, Vietnam U17 also made a strong impression in other individual categories. Midfielder Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc received the "Tournament's Best Player" award following his standout performance and significant influence on the team's overall play.
Sweeping multiple individual awards demonstrates the comprehensive strength of Vietnam U17 in this year's tournament. Not only convincingly winning the championship, Coach Roland and his team affirmed their status with cohesive, effective play and balanced brilliance across many positions.
Sharing after the match, Coach Cristiano Roland stated: “The players performed exceptionally and gave their utmost effort. I am truly proud of what the entire team displayed. This is a deserved reward for the players' preparation and competitive spirit.”
Success at the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship is not only a deserved reward for the team's efforts but also provides a crucial morale boost before Vietnam U17 faces greater challenges at the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals, starting early May.
