Southeast Asian media is buzzing over Vietnam's record-breaking fourth championship.

Southeast Asian media continues to praise Vietnam's U17 team after their victory over Malaysia, highlighting the milestone of four championships - the most in the tournament's history.

Vietnam's U17 team once again draws attention from Southeast Asian football by securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Malaysia's U17 in the 2026 regional U17 championship final. This result not only brings home the title but also helps the young team set a new record for the number of championships won.

According to ASEAN Football, with over 600,000 followers, “Vietnam's U17 team convincingly clinched the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship title”, and emphasized that Coach Roland's squad “defeated Malaysia U17 in the final to lift the trophy, thereby securing their fourth title — the most in the tournament's history”. This is the most significant highlight of this year's tournament.

Entering the final, Vietnam's U17 team was rated superior, having previously defeated Malaysia 4-0 in the group stage and just eliminated reigning champion Australia's U17 with a 2-1 score in the semifinals. On the field, the match continued to be one-sided as Coach Cristiano Roland's players completely controlled the game, applying constant pressure on the opponent's half.

The dominance was concretized through goals. Quy Vong opened the scoring early, establishing a solid psychological advantage, before Van Yang shone with a double to seal the 3-0 victory. Southeast Asian media believes this performance not only demonstrates effective attacking capability but also reflects stability in the team's overall tactical execution.

The fourth title holds special significance as it helps Vietnam's U17 surpass Thailand's U17 and Australia's U17 – two teams that previously had three championships – to uniquely occupy the top spot in history. Previously, the team had won championships in 2006, 2010, and 2017, and now officially sets a new milestone for regional youth football.

Not limited to the title, ASEAN Football also believes “this victory also extends Vietnam's U17 unbeaten streak to 20 matches since 2025”. Specifically, according to detailed statistics, the team has had 16 recent unbeaten matches with 12 wins, scoring up to 59 goals and conceding only 4 times – an impressive performance.

From a regional perspective, “the era of dominance by Vietnam's youth football continues as they affirm their position as Southeast Asia's top force”. This championship is not only a deserved reward but also opens up great expectations for the journey to reach continental levels in the future.
