Chánh Hưng Thái Sơn Nam continues to showcase its dominant power in the futsal event of the 2026 HCMC Sports University Games, achieving a resounding 17-1 win against Phú Định Gia Định, thus securing an early ticket to the quarter-finals with a remarkably impressive performance: netting 39 goals after only two games.

Notably, the flourishing journey of Vietnam's top futsal team also bears a special mark from the return of goalkeeper Hồ Văn Ý, who was once ranked among the world's top 10 best futsal goalkeepers. The comeback of this star born in 1997 after an 8-month hiatus due to ligament injury has further solidified Chánh Hưng Thái Sơn Nam's stability in their quest for the gold medal at this year's tournament.

In the opening match on April 23, Chánh Hưng Thái Sơn Nam created a goal-scoring storm by crushing Phú Lâm Vietnam-German University with an unbelievable score of 22-0. This was the match where Hồ Văn Ý returned as the starting goalkeeper, marking his eagerly awaited comeback after a long absence.

In the first round, boasting a squad with half being Vietnamese futsal national team players who recently secured third place at the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship in Thailand, the team coached by Nguyễn Tuấn Anh quickly imposed their dominance. Already in the first half, they led by 13-0. Nguyễn Thịnh Phát shone brilliantly with a poker of 4 goals, while Chu Văn Tiến also completed a hat-trick.

Moving into the second half, even though they slowed the pace, Chánh Hưng Thái Sơn Nam still added 9 more goals to conclude the match with a thoroughly dominant 22-0 victory. Đào Minh Quảng also completed his second brace in the game, raising his personal goal tally to 4.

Moving to the second round on April 24 at Chánh Hưng Ward Sports Hall, attention continued to focus on the clash between Chánh Hưng Thái Sơn Nam and Phú Định Gia Định in Group B.
