Manchester United surpasses the Premier League's 'Big Six', rising to become the world's third most valuable club.

Even without European cup participation this season, Manchester United remains at the top of the most valuable football clubs in England and holds the third position worldwide.

Over the past two years, since INEOS took over Old Trafford, Manchester United's financial difficulties have become increasingly evident. Media reports consistently highlight the cost-cutting and revenue-boosting measures implemented by Sir Jim Ratcliffe to ensure the club's financial sustainability.

This includes more than 450 rounds of staff reductions, while Old Trafford stadium is also being renovated to convert some season ticket areas into premium hospitality zones with higher prices.

The Red Devils' challenges are further compounded by their inability to secure qualification for any European competition this season, meaning they miss out on approximately £100 million in additional revenue from the Champions League. Nevertheless, despite this setback, Manchester United is still ranked as the most valuable club in England and the third most valuable football team globally.

Manchester United leads English clubs in the 2026 ranking of the world's 50 most valuable football teams.

This information comes from Sportico, which has just released its annual list of the 50 most valuable football clubs worldwide. Once again, Real Madrid tops the list with a valuation of £5.7 billion, while Barcelona follows closely with a value of £4.92 billion. Manchester United ranks third with a valuation of £4.79 billion, dropping one spot from the second position they held in 2025. Over the past year, the club's value has increased by £0.28 billion.

Currently, Manchester United is aiming to further enhance its brand value in the coming years, primarily targeting a return to the Champions League next season, alongside plans for constructing a new stadium. Despite ongoing uncertainties related to the new stadium project, particularly the acquisition of land behind the Stretford End stand—a crucial element for development—the £2 billion stadium construction plan is still progressing.

With that, Manchester United could very well reclaim the second position within the next few years. Currently, they still lead the next English club, Liverpool, by £0.54 billion. The Kop ranks fifth with a valuation of £4.25 billion, just behind Bayern Munich.

The top 10 most valuable clubs globally continue to demonstrate the strong dominance of the Premier League, as the rest of England's Big Six all feature from positions 6 to 10. Manchester City ranks sixth with a value of £4.22 billion, Arsenal follows closely with £4.02 billion. PSG slots in at eighth position with £3.7 billion, before Chelsea takes ninth with £2.96 billion and Tottenham rounds out the top ten with £2.59 billion.
