Following the U17 championship, Vietnamese football dominates Southeast Asia.

The 2026 Southeast Asian U17 championship allows Vietnamese football to finish its series of regional control, spanning U17, U23 to the national squad.

A 3-0 victory over Malaysia U17 in the final on April 24th secured the unbeaten title of Southeast Asian U17 2026 for Vietnam U17. Not only adding another regional trophy, coach Cristiano Roland and his team also perfected the brilliant picture for Vietnamese football, elevating the "Golden Star Warriors" to dominate Southeast Asia from youth levels to the national team.

Vietnam U17's championship is regarded as the final piece in the consecutive success streak of Vietnamese football during 2025–2026. Except for the U19 arena which hasn't seen major breakthroughs since its 2007 crowning, the remaining levels have all marked strong impressions with important titles, demonstrating the balanced and sustainable development of the nation's football.

Vietnam U17 won the Southeast Asian 2026 championship with an unbeaten record.

At the highest level, the Vietnam national team clinched the AFF Cup 2024 title, the tournament held in January 2025. The squad under coach Kim Sang Sik defeated the major rival Thailand after two final matches to ascend to Southeast Asian supremacy for the third time, following 2008 and 2018. This milestone affirms Vietnam football's number one regional status at the national team level.

Not stopping there, Vietnam U23 continued to show superior strength by achieving a hat-trick of consecutive Southeast Asian U23 championships in 2022, 2023, and 2025. This achievement helps Vietnam surpass major opponents like Thailand or Indonesia to become the most accomplished regional team in youth competitions. The stability of the next generation also guarantees the long-term future of the national team.

Vietnam U17's championship completes the picture of dominance in Southeast Asia.

At the SEA Games arena, Vietnam U23 also demonstrated dominance by winning 3 Gold Medals in just the latest 4 editions, including 2019, 2021, and the most recent SEA Games 33 held in December 2025 in Thailand. This impressive achievement series shows Vietnamese football is not only strong in one generation but possesses considerable squad depth across all lines.

Behind that dominance is the sustainable development strategy of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), along with a nationwide systematically invested youth training system. Centers like PVF, HAGL, Hanoi, or SLNA have become nurseries producing many talents for Vietnamese football. With that solid foundation, Vietnamese football not only dominates Southeast Asia but is also aiming for greater goals at continental and world stages.

After the championship, Vietnam U17 returns home and looks toward the 'Asian dream'.
