Vietnamese U23 player scores, helping Thanh Hoa Club win; Xuan Son's club held to a draw

Green Steel Nam Dinh Club was held to a draw while visiting Becamex Ho Chi Minh City's home ground. Meanwhile, Dong A Thanh Hoa Club overcame PVF-CAND with a narrow victory.

Becamex Ho Chi Minh City Club hosted Green Steel Nam Dinh in round 20 of V-League 2025/26 on the evening of April 25. In the 3rd minute, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City quickly took the lead. From a swift counterattack, Viet Cuong broke away with speed before delivering a decisive shot into the near corner, defeating goalkeeper Nguyen Manh to open the scoring 1-0.

After conceding the goal, Green Steel Nam Dinh pushed their formation higher. In the 14th and 27th minutes, Xuan Son had two aerial attempts but both shots lacked accuracy.

In the 42nd minute, Xuan Son and Hoang Anh successively made dangerous shots, but goalkeeper Minh Toan saved brilliantly. In the 45+1 minute, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City nearly doubled their lead when Viet Cuong accelerated and shot, hitting the post. The first half ended with a 1-0 advantage for the home team.

Entering the second half, Green Steel Nam Dinh increased their pressure. In the 67th minute, their efforts were rewarded when Tuan Duong unleashed a tricky long-range shot, equalizing 1-1. Just two minutes later, Tuan Anh put the ball into Becamex Ho Chi Minh City's net from a pass by Caio Cesar, but the goal was not recognized due to an offside violation earlier. No further goals were scored in the remaining minutes, and both teams had to accept a 1-1 draw.

This result leaves the Nam-based club standing 6th on the standings with 28 points after 20 matches. Meanwhile, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City ranks 11th with 20 points.

Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa Club secured a narrow victory against PVF-CAND, a team currently in the lower group of the standings. The star of Vietnam's U23, Ngoc My, scored the only goal for the Thanh-based team with a diving header in the 62nd minute following a teammate's cross.

Ngoc My's shining moment helped Thanh Hoa Club achieve a narrow 1-0 victory. The Thanh-based team has 20 points, equal to Becamex Ho Chi Minh City, but ranks 10th due to better auxiliary indicators. PVF-CAND still ranks 13th on the standings and faces relegation risk.
