Malaysia U17 coach, Shukor Adan, praised Vietnam U17's performance after the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 final.
Malaysia U17 lost 0-3 to Vietnam U17 in the Southeast Asia U17 final on the evening of April 24. Speaking to Malaysian media, Coach Shukor Adan stated he would conduct analyses of the match to identify shortcomings needing correction for Malaysia U17.
Earlier in the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 group stage, Vietnam U17, led by Coach Cristiano Roland, defeated Malaysia U17 4-0.
"After two losses to Vietnam U17, I feel the coaching staff must analyze each individual and the team as a whole. Then, we will address the existing weaknesses, especially regarding the players' physical aspects and strength," Coach Adan stated.

Coach Shukor Adan acknowledges Vietnam U17 is stronger.
Commenting on the final loss, Coach Shukor Adan admitted Vietnam U17's squad possesses superior strength, particularly in experience compared to his team which includes many younger players.
"Vietnam U17 is a very robust and well-rounded team in both technique and physique, as they are preparing for the upcoming Asian U17 finals in Saudi Arabia," the Malaysia U17 coach acknowledged.
Mr. Adan continued: "The gap between us and Vietnam U17 is clearly visible. Despite only a one-year age difference, in terms of experience, Vietnam U17 players are more seasoned compared to Malaysia U17 players."
"We still have five months before the 2027 Asian U17 qualification begins. Even though it's five months, I think that period is quite short for preparation, and we will strive to do the best for the players," Coach Adan affirmed.
He added: "From my observation, Malaysia U17 needs more international matches so players can adapt to high-intensity competition, as the Asian qualification is very different from the ASEAN championship. We will also await the Asian U17 qualification group draw results, then plan for friendly matches and training camps."
