CTFA Taipei China officially dismissed coach Prasobchoke Chokemor after 18 female national team players collectively petitioned for his removal due to prolonged internal instability.
According to information from Taipei China media, the Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA) officially terminated the contract prematurely with the head coach of the women's national team, Prasobchoke Chokemor, on April 25. Not only the Thai strategist, but the entire accompanying coaching staff was also disbanded, initiating an unprecedented major restructuring of women's football in the country.
CTFA's decisive action was taken just over a week after the women's national team's internal affairs fell into severe crisis. Previously, in mid-April, up to 18 female national team players jointly signed a petition demanding the dismissal of coach Prasobchoke Chokemor. This is considered a rare move, especially in the context of the team having just achieved quite impressive results at the 2026 Women's Asian Cup.
On the field, the Chinese Taipei women's national team caused a major surprise by successively defeating the Vietnam women's national team and the India women's national team to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup. This is also their best performance in the last nine editions. Although they later stopped before the China women's national team, this team still left many positive impressions in terms of professionalism.
Not stopping there, in the playoff round for the Women's World Cup qualification, the Chinese Taipei women's national team continued to strive but could not overcome the North Korea women's national team. Nevertheless, they still have an opportunity to compete for the final ticket through the intercontinental playoff scheduled to take place in February 2027, opening hope for their first appearance at the planet's largest women's football festival.
However, on-field achievements could not conceal the prolonged instability within the team. According to feedback from players, the coaching staff's training program lacked systematic structure, match tactics were unclear, and at many times players had to handle situations on the field without receiving effective guidance. Additionally, fitness and medical issues also raised concerns as many players suffered injuries due to overloaded training and unsuitable methods.
Under increasing pressure from the collective players, CTFA had to intervene to investigate and organize evaluation meetings. Although at one point the voting process was stalled due to insufficient valid members, the Association ultimately decided to dismiss coach Prasobchoke Chokemor and the entire staff. According to local media, Technical Director Matt Ross recommended Belgian coach Patrick De Wilde as the successor, and the official decision will be announced soon in the coming period.
