Round 20 of V.League 2025/26: Dong A Thanh Hoa Club rises to the top!

Thanh Hoa achieved a vital win against PVF-CAND, whereas Nam Dinh and Becamex drew in the Round 20 fixtures of V.League 2025/26, adding tension to both the relegation struggle and the top 5 competition.

Round 20 of V.League 2025/26 witnessed tense developments in the relegation race as Dong A Thanh Hoa Club effectively utilized their home advantage to claim a significant 1-0 win over PVF-CAND, thereby substantially improving their position on the standings.

The match was a "turning point" for both teams, as Thanh Hoa and PVF-CAND were both in the relegation-contending group. Immediately after the opening whistle, the visiting PVF-CAND side proactively pushed forward, organizing several fast-paced attacks and creating some dangerous opportunities. However, lack of precision in finishing prevented them from capitalizing on their early advantage.

Thanh Hoa secured a crucial victory to enhance their position on the league table.

On the other side, Dong A Thanh Hoa demonstrated their familiar resilience and toughness. After an initial period of being pressured, the home team gradually regained control, organizing a tight defense and waiting for counter-attacking opportunities. The turning point arrived at minute 62 when Ngoc My shone with the sole goal of the match, bringing a decisive advantage to the Thanh region's team.

After conceding the goal, PVF-CAND had to commit fully to attacking in the remainder of the match. Despite controlling possession more, the visitors still struggled against Thanh Hoa's disciplined defensive system and continued to waste opportunities. Ultimately, they accepted a 0-1 defeat and sank deeper in the relegation battle.

This victory propelled Dong A Thanh Hoa to the 10th position on the standings, simultaneously creating a 7-point gap from PVF-CAND itself. This is considered a crucial step forward, allowing coach Mai Xuan Hop and his squad to temporarily "breathe easier" during the challenging phase of the season.

In the other match on April 25, Becamex HCMC Club and Thep Xanh Nam Dinh drew 1-1. Viet Cuong put the home team ahead in the 3rd minute, before Giap Tuong Duong equalized for Nam Dinh at minute 67. This result helped Becamex increase their safety margin from the bottom group, while Nam Dinh missed the chance to break into the top 5 and continued to face difficulties in the ranking race.
