A Vietnamese U17 player undergoes separate training following Southeast Asian championship victory

Le Trong Dai Nhan trained separately during the first session of Vietnam U17 after returning home.

On the afternoon of April 27, after a day of rest since returning from the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship, the Vietnam U17 team quickly resumed training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. The entire team engaged in a light ball session to maintain match readiness and help players recover physically from the travel and intense matches.

The coaching staff proactively reduced training intensity initially, focusing on short coordination drills, ball handling, and maintaining steady movement rhythm. However, striker Le Trong Dai Nhan showed signs of overload post-tournament and could not train with teammates. This forward trained separately under close medical supervision to ensure optimal condition before the team departs for the Asian championship.

According to the plan, Vietnam U17 will maintain continuous training until April 30 with no holiday break. This demonstrates the team's strong determination toward the more important goal: the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup finals. Late on April 30, coach Cristiano Roland and his squad will depart for Saudi Arabia to begin their continental campaign.

Previously, on the evening of April 26, Vietnam U17 returned home amid enthusiastic fan welcome after brilliantly winning the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship. The regional title is a deserved reward for the team's persistent efforts and boosts confidence ahead of tougher challenges at the Asian level.

The 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup finals will take place in Saudi Arabia from May 5 to May 23, featuring 16 top continental teams. Vietnam U17 is in Group C alongside South Korea U17, UAE U17, and Yemen U17.

This is considered a challenging group, especially as South Korea U17 is viewed as a top contender for group leadership. According to tournament format, the eight quarter-finalists along with host Saudi Arabia will qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup 2026.
